Another fab, fun meeting unfolded on September 23rd with POPsters Yami, Joe, Bennett, "the two Joyces", Leon, Bernie, Eric and his father, Sandy, and Dorothy. A warm welcome to our new member, Ben, and his mother, Carol.

Our star-studded lineup of models taught and folded included three action dollar bill models: a Tumbler, Fluttering Butterfly and "Make George Washington Smile"; a Greeting Card Bird; the Traditional Flapping Bird; Makoto Yamaguchi's Flapping Dove; V'Ann Cornelius' Strap and a Truncated, Dimpled, Chamfered Tetrahedron.

Yami demonstrated Kenneth Kawamura's Butterfly Ball, cleverly assembling all 12 units within a simple frame he constructed by stapling together four strips of paper. Yami also taught his marvelous Magic Wallet based on his marvelous Jacob's Ladder!

This month's Model-o-rama display featured Bennett Arnstein's impeccably folded rendition of Modular Polyhedra. Some highlights: Spheres of Peace by Yami Yamauchi (construction method by Joe Hamamoto, hoop lock and connecting spheres by Bennett Arnstein); a 12 and 24-piece Super Spike Ball by Rona Gurkewitz and Bennett Arnstein; 30-piece Stellated Icosahedron from a Hungarian module by Susanna Kricskovics; a 12-piece Stellated Cube, 36 degree Isosceles Triangle Module, 12-piece simplified Decoration Box (cube) and a Great Rhombicuboctahedron, 12 expanded Spike-Ball square modules by Bennett Arnstein.

Bennett, who has co-authored "3-D Geometric Origami" with Rona Gurkewitz and "Modular Origami Polyhedra" with Lewis Simon and Rona Gurkewitz is co-authoring another book with Rona on Multi Modulars, to be published in the Fall of 2002.

Our Model of the Month is an awesome variation of the traditional index card jumping frog by Yami Yamauchi:

Super Jumping Frog

Our next meeting is November 25th. Be there or be square!
